It gets a lot of information from the way you move and speak. Common words like ‘heel’, ‘sit’, ‘stay’, are familiar to most people as words which all trained dogs are familiar with. But incorporating all these techniques together is what will train the dog in the best way possible. It is important that your new canine friend understands that you are the boss and he needs to act upon you which as pack animals dog love but remember do this purely with vocal commands and encouraging rewards and never raise a hand or stick to your dog. Several dog training techniques require more than just a vocal command. For instance if you want him to sit then a gentle push on the rump as you say SIT will make it more clear as to what you expect him to do and less complicated for your dog to understand. One of the vital things to take into account when training your dog is to make sure you do not sound baffled or allow your voice to falter as this will confuse your dog and send out the wrong message. As long as you sound clear and authoritive your dog will quickly start to understand that you mean business and that he has no choice. However, make sure you do not keep saying the command as he will get totally lost and puzzled. . Instead say it firmly once accompanied by an action, and he will get the point. Reward is an valuable part of training. Use his favourite food or a toy to reward him when he obeys and does what you want him to. He will realize that master is delighted and will act upon you the next time you say ‘stay’. Indulge in praising him every time he does something obedient; in a light and happy voice accompanied by a smile. Remember Dogs are just like children and understand when you are upset and when you are pleased with them. It is tiring, but spoken communication makes it very much less complicated for him to deliver more or less what you want. Actions are never enough. And dogs are supportive creatures, so it is uncomplicated for them to sense what you mean.
